Wow, where do I begin. After reading all the other posts I am overwhelmed at what a caring nation we live in. It is up to us to help our own and with the economy in the shape it is in we have to all "Step Up and Reach Out"! That is what we are hoping to achieve at Blackville Church of God. We are a very rural area of Georgia. This area serves as home for many poverty stricken families. Our church provides a food bank to these families and pastoral counseling. We have had many families faced with job loss and the upcoming school year is going to be tuff for them. Our "School Closet" will help provide clothing and shoes for those in need but school supplies is the next area of outreach we want to supply. What a joy it will be to provide children and youth with the necessary school supplies and a backpack to start their school year off with a bang! I feel that a childs well being and self confidence plays an important role in their education. It is hard for a child to learn when they are hungry, or when they feel less adequate to other classmates. I am asking for your help in providing backpacks to help us with this project. We are expecting almost 500 families to attend our Back to School Bash & Community Outreach. Our bash will provide these children with a carnival experience full of all the fun these children could have had if a summer vacation had been financially possible. In summary, I want to say thank you for all the wonderful things you have done to make the lives of many children anf youth happier! Kudos to You & God Bless

Hello, my name is Debbie O'Brien and my family is blessed to own a business in Virginia that has allowed us consistently give back on a local and national level for the past 5 years. Today, I am writing you to ask for your help. We host a sponsor a chariy function each years called "From the Vine to the Classroom." This campaign allows us to purchase school supplies for families that are in hardship and are not able to do so. It has been a succesful fundraiser each year - primarily due to the overwhelming generosity of our customers. We have been fortunate enough to buy not just the school supplies but also basic toiletry items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deordorant, soap, etc.
This year, however, we took our campaign national and reached out the Louisiana Fishermans Assocation to help families that were affected by the gulf oil spill. The campaign began in support of 300 children, increased to 500 and now we may be looking at between 750 - 1,000 children who are in need of supplies. My husband and I have personally bought for over 300 of the children and matched every supply and monetary donation. We currently have enough school supplies to help approximately 500 children (300 of them we can complete almost every supply on their list). The main item that we are missing for each student is a Clear or Mesh School Bag.
I am writing you to ask if your company would consider offering us a significantly reduced rate to purchase these pack backs. Or consider matching with a donation of backpacks the number that we would purchase at your volume rater.
Should you have any questions, I am reachable at debbie@chateauobrien.com. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration! Debbie O'Brien

Adams Court is a not for profit organizaiton started by concerned citizens whom wanted to combat the ills of the community. We were tired of the drug selling loitering and neighbors being robbed in our parking lots. So with the help of Mr. Timmons a very dedicated young man in the community who puts the needs of other before his own- we created a positive group who set out to stimulate the social life of the community with positive cultural and educaltional methods.
We celebrate academic achievement and community unity with our Annual Back To School Day Event. This year we will celebrate our 3rd annual event and our goal is to distribute over 200 backpacks and school supplies to children in need. Every one needs a helping hand at times and we should focus on the positive not the negtative. We hope that your organization will be able to help in an extraordinary way to spread hope and dreams.

Hello My name is Shatonya McMillian and I work for a non-profit organization called Community Outreach for Youtjh & Family Services, Inc. We are planning a back to school drive in Durham, NC and Atlanta, GA for underprivileged youth. Majority of the families that we assist are in dire need of anything they can receive. We would ove for MyGift to donate backpacks with us. Being that our budget has been cut in half, we are only in the position to help about 50 families this year, compared to 100 last year. We have received 2 offers from a church and a church club team to assist them with their back to school donations, but at this time, it seems as if we cannot help both, even though we would love too. With your assistance that request may be possible.

Hello -
On August 14, 2010 the Kingdom In The Park (KIP) event will be held at the Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia from 10 am until 4 pm. The KIP outreach ministry has planned this event in an effort of helping to combat the issues experienced by our parents and children during these challenging economic times.
KIP is committed to helping those in need in our community and sharing the truth. We will be giving away FREE food, clothes, minor health screenings and information, clear or mesh book bags and any donated school supplies. We will also have local EOA representatives and social workers on hand to provide information, answer questions or concerns for parents.
We are prayerfully hoping MyGift will partner with us by donating clear or mesh back packs. We have asked several businesses to donate 200-300 back packs (and uniforms or supplies, if possible). We expect well over 1,000 school-aged students at this specific event and we would gladly appreciate any amount that you could donate.

Food For People is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to eliminate hunger and improve the health and well-being of our community through access to healthy and nutritious foods, community education and advocacy.
I am writing to request help for our Backpacks for Kids program. We have been providing a backpack full of kid-friendly, non-perishable food to 230+ low income children in our county each week during the school year for the last four years. These children receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch at school, but may not have access to nutritious food after school or on the weekends. Children who are hungry do not perform as well in school and may be distracted, anxious, or aggressive. This program has and continues to help alleviate the stress these children face. When they take home a backpack, they know they will have food to eat over the weekend and they come back to school better prepared to learn.
In the coming school year, we are hoping to double our program capacity and serve 500+ children in our community. We need all the help we can get and are seeking donations of all types. A donation of backpacks would cut a major cost from our budget and allow us to serve more children. I hope you will seriously consider giving to Backpacks for Kids this year.
Thank you!
